Watch the leaves fall in the forest while you and your sweetheart sit on the padded couch in the window nook. Toast marshmallows over the fire in the pit under the stars at night. Very peaceful and pretty.

It’s great for people who want to go on adventures without being online to have this A-frame cabin in the middle of the woods. At the stream out back, get water to drink. Cut down trees for the wood stove, and set your alarms for every morning. The place makes you feel very much like you’re by yourself. Just having a simple cabin is nice for me because I like being outside and relaxing. There are times when I don’t have power or WiFi, but I can still connect with myself. It helps you get going.

5. The Hideaway on Rock City Road

The Hideaway cabin is far away, but only 10 minutes from Pine Plains. It sits on 6 acres of land that are all yours. From the big deck, guests love that they can see the stars at night. The tall oaks and pines around the cabin keep it cool even on the hottest summer days. Reading a book in the hammock is the best way to spend an afternoon. In the evening, grill steaks on the deck and watch the sky change from blue to pink to purple. It lets the senses getaway.

6. Creekside Cottage on West Academy Street

People who want to be close to services will like Creekside Cottage because it is in Pine Plains proper. There are restaurants and cute shops close by that you can visit on foot. You can also get a beer at the brewpub. While people are at the cottage, they can hear the waterfall running over the dam across the road. On the inside, there are slate tiles, old wood beams, and a stone fireplace for cold nights. During the day, you can have coffee on the porch of the sunroom, which faces the cottage garden. This is my favorite rental in town because it’s cozy and easy to get to.
